San Javier joins the Ecovidrio Green Flags Movement

Ecovidrio, the non-profit organization in charge of management of the recycling of glass packaging waste in Spain, in Collaboration with the City Council of San Javier, has launched the Summer campaign Green Flags Movement in San Javier. The initiative aims to recognize with that environmental award the coastal municipality of the Region more committed to the fight against climate change and coastal protection through Recycling glass containers. Up to 206 establishments municipality have confirmed that they will collaborate to get the flag green.
The incidence of tourism and the increase in consumption makes the months Summer is a key stage for the collection of glass containers and the bars, restaurants and beach bars are responsible for 52 percent of glass container waste generated by which are a key sector for a real transition to the model of circular economy.
San Javier will be one of the six municipalities of Murcia that will involve, increasing the selective collection of containers of glass during the summer months, to get that green flag in the Region as in the rest of Spain, 136 municipalities will do it which contribute to the Movement a total of 15,000 establishments.
