The pianist and composer Chick Corea, one of the most respected contemporary jazz, returns, a year after receive the Festival Award, to the San Javier Jazz stage, which could not miss the opportunity to enjoy his last project, The Spanish Heart Band, a Latin character band that he has conformed to show, once again, his “love for Spanish, Latin and flamenco culture.
“My origin is Italian but my heart is Spanish” he declared this music giant, which accumulates 63 nominations for the Awards Grammy who won 22 times, and who did not hesitate to recruit the saxophonist and flutist, Jorge Pardo, one of the greatest exponents of flamenco-jazz with whom he had recently worked in the Touchstone band, along with other members of Paco's sextet of Lucia, old friend of Chick Corea with whom he discovered flamenco.
The band formed by Chick Corea includes trumpeter Mike Rodríguez, the trombonist Steve Davis, the bassist Carlitos del Puerto, drummer Marcus Gilmore, and percussionist Luisito Quintero, to whom he added the Niño Josele, who was second guitarist of Paco de Lucía, and the bailaor Niño de los Reyes, who they bring the flamenco flavor to a show “of rhythm, dance, freedom and creativity from my Spanish heart ”, as I Chick Korea himself describes.
