The Danish pianist Niels Lan Doky, one of the European jazz musicians most prominent, will open the penultimate night of the Jazz Festival of San Javier with his fantastic piano, double bass and drums trio. With more than twenty albums published as leader, Niels Lan Doky is considered by critics as one of the disciples most convincing of Bill Evans, and in his compatriot the double bass player Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen, with whom he worked for several years, he found a decisive mentor in his career.
Other of the essential names in his life was the trumpeter Thad Jones, with whom he began working with only 15 years before travel to Boston to study at the Berklee College of Music, Recommended by Jones himself. Niels Lan Doky ended up installing a long season in New York where he played with the jazz elite American as Al Foster, Bill Evans, John Scofield, Al Jarreau, Randy Brecker and Charlie Haden, among many others.
