Afemar presents the Mayor with his new assistance projects for people with mental illness in the region

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo and the councilor of Social Rights, Estibabal Masegosa have met this morning with the president of the Association of relatives of people with mental illness and generalized developmental disorder child and adolescent of the Mar Menor region (AFEMAR), Juana Romero, and José Madrid, member of the board, who have explained the projects that the Association intends to develop in the next months.
AFEMAR considers that the start-up of a Social Club, that offers a type of alternative and active leisure during the ends of week would be beneficial for its users as well as the activity that can generate in an urban garden. They have also raised the creation of a series of workshops aimed specifically at women as they stated in the Mar Menor region near of 4000 women suffer some type of disorder related to the mental health.
The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo reiterated the support of the City Council of San Javier to the Association, which he congratulated the work of both assistance and awareness, through the annual financial aid agreement maintained by both institutions, and expressed the municipal will to continue cooperating with AFEMAR in everything when possible.
