The lace of bolillo took the place of Spain

More than 250 lacemakers bolillo from different parts of Spain gathered yesterday in the Plaza de España, of San Javier for the XIV National Encounter of Lacemakers of Bolillo San Javier. A street market with all kinds of accessories and an exhibition with works already finished, they completed the day that was inaugurated by the mayor, José Miguel Luengo and the mayor of Culture, David Martínez, with a defense of tradition and craftsmanship and welcome the participants who had the local association Abomar as hostesses.

During all morning, the lacemakers were doing their jobs to the view of the public that could know something more about this difficult embroidery art. The Encounter also served as a coexistence and pooling among the fans who exchange tricks, knowledge, designs and new ideas with which to move forward in a work whose apparent difficulty conceals a simple way of relaxation, according to the lacemakers.
