Rescue "In extremis" of a young person by Municipal Emergency Service and Local Police

12-07-2019

The Municipal Emergency Service, in a joint action with the Local Police and coordinated by the CECOPAL of the municipality, saved the life of a young man, last night, in an operation that lasted for two harrowing hours but that -finally- ended with the rescue at sea and subsequent stabilization of the victim who was finally admitted to the Emergency Service of the University Hospital of Los Arcos.

The operation began when minutes before two o'clock in the morning the Emergency 112 Single Telephone of the Region of Murcia received the call of a young man who said he had entered the sea, between the limits of Santiago de la Ribera and Lo Pagán, place the latter who had attended a concert.

The young man who stated that he was "drowning" and that due to the darkness "did not know how to get out of the sea" showed that his situation was critical, while describing to the emergency operator a picture of decompensation and intoxication, with a severe history of disorders compatible with autolysis.

The CECOPAL activated the Municipal Emergency Service of San Javier that immediately moved to the Playa de Castillicos to multipurpose service teams, whose members located friends who had called 112 and began to search for the victim, with members of the Local Police, from land and similarly another deployment was organized in the Lo Pagán area of San Pedro del Pinatar.

The staff of the Emergency Service of San Javier finally managed to hear the cries in the distance, so immediately one of the troops was thrown into the sea equipped with a rescue can and swam towards where the voice was heard, increasingly faint of the young man who was drowning, while from the ground they illuminated the area where the young man should be. The emergency and civil protection operator managed to reach the victim in time and perform the rescue maneuver.
